MYBLOG August 30, 2010
Is next Monday really Labor Day? It’s hard to believe that the summer is coming to a close. Some schools are already back in session and the rest will be come next Tuesday. Carrie and Mason returned to school this morning. Classes don’t start until next Tuesday but they are at the school this week getting things ready. Carrie is getting set up to teach History and administer the new online classes the school will be offering. Mason is helping around the school as all the teachers prepare for the new school year. I think he’s excited about the new school year, I know his mom and dad are. Meanwhile, Evan is a bit perplexed about Mason and Mommy leaving to go to school. He wants to go too and we tell him he can as soon as he learns to use the potty. That seems to change his mind, at least for a little while. We’re coaxing him to try his new potty chair, but so far he hasn’t used it. When he’s ready, he will. He continues to talk more with words that you can actually understand. For the longest time he’s call Mason MayMay. The other day he said “Mason” for the first time. Oh sure, it was in frustration, but he said it. We’re trying to get him to say his name, but when you ask he usually says “two.” Not sure if he’s saying his age or letting us know that he is our second son. I tried a little reverse psychology the other day and ask him what Mommy says when she’s upset and he said “MASON!” Perhaps I should have been more specific with my line of questioning. He also picks up and repeats words that he hears, almost immediately. I found that out one morning while cleaning cat puke off the floor. All I said was “stupid cat” and within ten seconds he was saying it, over and over and adding “cat puke, stupid cat.” Mason had a first this past weekend. He spent the night away from home without it being with a relative. He went camping with one of his school friends and his parents. He apparently had great time fishing, hiking and swimming. I know he was tired because when he got home Sunday afternoon he took a shower and sat down to watch the Little League World Series with us and within about 5 minutes he was sleeping. I have to admit, I might have dozed off too. Okay, I know I dozed off because somehow I missed the first run Japan scored. Kudos to both the teams, Hawaii and Japan. It’s not easy to get to Williamsport. They both played exceptionally well as you would expect in a championship game. I can’t wait for next year. One final note this week. I spent a few hours Saturday in Stephens City DJing during a fund raiser for The Children’s Miracle Network. Everyone involved was wonderful and I had a great time. 1 Corinthians 13:13 (KJV) |
