Warren Gosnell
Warren hails originally from the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia where he grew up in Bunker Hill and graduated from Musselman High School in 1981. Warren has 22 years of radio experience, all locally in the Shenandoah Valley, begining with his first part-time shift overnights on weekends at W.W.O.O. 105.5 fm in Berryville, Va. The General Manager at "Country 105" quickly saw the energy and enthusiasm that Warren prides himself on and before that summer was over he was working weekday afternoons full time and shortly after that took over the station's morning show.
Warren moved Westward in 1988 from Clarke County to Frederick County to the area's country music powerhouse Q102 / WUSQ fm. Over the course of his 6+ years at the home of "Shenandoah Country", Warren was able to gain experience in various areas of the business of broadcasting including calling play-by-play for area high school athletics, deejaying live events & dances and even a brief stint in radio advertising sales.
In 1995 long time friend and former Q102 co-worker, Mike O'Dell, contacted Warren advising him that he was now the General Manager at W.F.T.R. 95.3 fm in Front Royal and had a proposition. The station had recently changed it's musical style from adult contemporary to the "Real Country" format and was now looking for a high energy morning show to "shake up the market". After a couple of discussions about ideas and approaches (and yes, salary) Warren accepted the offer and just as quickly convinced O'Dell that a show with two "high energy" announcers could give this new format and the station the jolt it was looking for. Another local radio personality, Jimmy Lee, was hired as co-host & news anchor and thus "The Morning Tag Team" was born.
In October 1997 Warren was offered the chance to join a reserve police officer program to become a sworn, non-paid, officer. Having a life long desire to work in law enforcement, Warren went for it and was hired by the Frederick County Sheriff's Office in November 1998, six months after graduating from the police academy. Even though Warren gave up his full-time radio gig, he continues to be heard here on The River 95.3 twice a year, filling in for the vacationing Randy Woodward.
Warren lives in the Stephen City area, and is the proud father of two beautiful girls, Hannah and Ashlee. He and the girls enjoying loading up the camper and heading to Nascar races or camping at various amusement parks and hittin all the rides. Warren is now in his 13th year of law enforcement and continues to enjoy serving in his capacity as a Deputy Sheriff in Frederick County.
