MYBLOG February 20, 2012

A date with my wife, some guy time with my boys and a helping hand lent.  Friday night the boys spent the night with Meemaw and Papa so Carrie and I used the time to go on a dinner date, something we haven’t done in quite a while.  We had a gift card to Olive Garden so we used that and had a very nice meal and some one on one time.  I was going to help Larry finish up a bathroom project on Saturday, but he was feeling a little under the weather, so instead, I picked up the boys mid morning and took them home. We spent several hours outside doing a few little projects around the house.  One of the things we did was get the tractor ready for the big snow that had been forecasted.  We charged the battery, pumped up the tires and made sure it had gas and oil.  I even started it, just to hear it run.  As it turned out the snow never came, at least not to our neighborhood.  Further south of us they got hit pretty hard with up to nine inches of snow, but we didn’t even get a flurry.  Carrie blamed me.  She said if I hadn’t made sure the tractor was ready, we would have got a foot.  She, the boys and most of the other teachers at school were really looking forward to a snow day.  Maybe in March.  Sunday after church we went out for lunch at a local restaurant that was doing a fundraiser for the school.  They donated 15% of your check back to the school.  Lots of local restaurants offer the same sort of fund raising opportunities, so with the school raising money to move into a new building, every chance we get we try to help.  After that I met Crissie at the station to record an ad for an upcoming dance that the radio station and her March Of Dimes team, “Stepping Together,” are hosting in March.  Then I went to help Larry, who was feeling much better, install a new shower in his bathroom.  It is a two piece unit and he had already installed the bottom half earlier in the week, so I helped him put in the top half and get it level, plumb and secured in place.  All in all, a fairly busy weekend, but a very productive one.  One other note this week; Evan passed his first Little Book.  He only had it two days before he passed it and moved on to book number 2.  I have no doubt that he’ll pass this one by the end of the week.  He obliviously inherited his mothers smarts.  Psalm 139:13
